Vivir para siempre (Ron, 2010)

Vivir para siempre... ¿Título ñoño? ¿Temática ñoña? La película ya empieza con fuerza:

1. Me llamo Sam
2. Tengo once años
3. Recopilo historias y hechos fantásticos
4. Tengo leucemia
5. Cuando veáis esto probablemente ya estaré muerto

Una película sobre un  niño con cáncer, probablemente sea lacrimosa, cursi... Pues esta película adaptada del libro de Sally Nichols consigue un perfecto equilibrio de emociones. El director Gustavo Ron, explicaba en una sesión en la Facultad de Comunicación de la Universidad de Navarra que había querido adaptar esa historia sin caer en esa cursilería. Añadía que contar una  historia a través de un niño permite "decir cosas muy profundas con una gran ingenuidad". Las películas con niños como protagonistas juegan siempre en la cuerda floja. Gustavo Ron hace de funambulista con maestría consiguiendo la risa, la fascinación ante esas magníficas animaciones de estilo antiguo...

Los personajes son muy atractivos. Los dos niños -Sam y Felix- actúan muy bien y nos  hacen creer totalmente en sus personajes. El padre de Sam, encarnado por Ban Chaplin, tiene un papel muy rico en la película. Un padre que no acepta la enfermedad de su hijo, que no quiere enfrentarse a esa muerte tan cercana, pero que acaba descubriendo que lo importante es la vida. Creo que está muy conseguido eso que dice el director en la entrevista de la Universidad: La película trata la muerte, pero no trata sobre la muerte; sino sobre la vida.
Una película dura, muy dura, pero con mucho encanto. Es una película que no deja indiferente, pero lo hace con una dulzura que no sienta mal. Podéis ver cosas muy interesantes en el blog de la película.






Ways to live forever... A twelve-year-old children with leukemia. Sounds cheesy, but this film is a wonderful show of tightrope. The Spanish director, Gustavo Ron, says that telling a story through the eyes of a kid allows you to tell very compelling things with naivety. I think that is the main point of this film. It's a very hard topic, hard situation, but everything makes you laugh. That is the power of life. Nothing is impossible. The two kids are wonderful actors, their characters are very interesting as they keep asking themselves about the true meaning of life and death. The character of Sam's father is great, as well. Ben Chaplin shows us a father who can't face his son's death, but who discovers that the important thing is life.
A trully moving film, with amazing actors and very interesting animation fragments. One of those films that leave you with "something inside", that doesn't leave you indifferent, but does it in a charming way.
